2017 Fit Holiday Gift Guide [Part 4:  Gifts Over $50]

Becky WilliamsGear

Here’s the last installment of the B Kinetic Fitness 3rd annual fit holiday gift guide!

For those special people that you want to spend a little more on, I’ve got a great list of some of my favorite things over $50.

You can also check out the gift guides from 2014 and 2016 for more ideas.

Splurge a Little or a Lot – Gifts Over $50:

1.  Beautycounter+ Spa Set
$88
Shown here in No. 3 Balancing, which I personally use (along with the No. 1 Brightening facial oil, Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion, and Charcoal cleansing bar).

From the BC website:

“A collection of mini-sized targeted masks, mists, and oils formulated with safer ingredients to enhance your daily skin care regimen. Infused with activated charcoal and ylang ylang, the Beautycounter+ No. 3 Balancing Spa Set gently refines oily, uneven skin. Activated charcoal and kaolin clay absorb excess oil and refine skin texture, giving skin a smooth, polished appearance.”  <— I would definitely agree with this!

Includes:
1 fl oz. No. 3 Balancing Facial Mask
1 fl oz. No. 3 Balancing Facial Mist
0.33 fl oz. No. 3 Balancing Facial Oil

I love this set for so many reasons:  it nourishes my oily yet sometimes dry and flaky acne-prone skin, my skin is less oily throughout the day and not dry or flaky, it feels and smells really good, AND it doesn’t contain any of the 1,500 ingredients on the BC Never List.

The Beautycounter website explains:

“The Never List™ is made up of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals that we never use as ingredients in our products. This includes the over 1,400 chemicals banned or restricted in personal care products by the European Union, plus additional chemicals screened by Beautycounter and found to be of concern.”

I purchased my Spa Set through Beautycounter consultant Noelle Tarr of Coconuts and Kettlebells.  Although you don’t have to shop through a consultant, they do periodically run specials where you get a free gift if you spend X amount of dollars, so it pays to sign up for a consultant’s email list or follow them on social media.  Plus, you can email them questions about which products are best for you.

UPDATE (6/11/18):  I am now a proud Beautycounter consultant after trying several of the products over the past year.  I’ve been so impressed with the quality, smell, and results of the products, as well as the mission of getting safer skincare and beauty products into the hands of more people.  I started looking for safer products while dealing with all of my hormone, adrenal, and digestive issues, and I truly believe switching over has made a difference.  Knowing that I’m being exposed to fewer endocrine-disrupting chemicals = peace of mind!

2.  Ultimate Ears MEGABOOM Wireless Mobile Bluetooth Speaker
$172.99

It’s amazing how good the sound is from this little speaker!  It’s waterproof and shockproof, has 360-degree sound with deep bass, and 100 ft Bluetooth wireless range, 20-hour rechargeable battery and ultra-fast micro USB charging.  It weighs less than 2 lbs and measures 3.3 x 3.3 x 8.9 inches.  Love this thing.  It’s great for listening to music while you work out at home, for a party, or any other music-requiring occasion.

3.  Athleta Studio Wrap
$89

I’m obsessed with just about anything that Athleta puts out, and their sweaters are no exception.  And I’m a sucker for thumbholes, lol (isn’t everyone?!?).  This semi-fitted, beyond soft cardigan comes in 6 colors and is a longer length that covers your “assets.”  It has a bit of stretch and is made from a sustainable fiber called Lenzing Modal®, which is a fiber that is produced from European beechwood trees harvested from sustainable forests where 99% of the raw material comes from certified or controlled sources.  Hidden magnet closures on the collar and shoulders allow you to close the wrap on either side <— love this.

4.  Instant Pot LUX60 V3 6 Qt 6-in-1 Pressure Cooker

This kitchen gadget has been all the range in Paleo food blog circles the past 18 months or so.  It’s a multi-use programmable pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, sauté, steamer, and warmer in one.  This is the version that I have, which I got on sale for around $89 on Amazon several months ago, I think.  Definitely look around for sales, as I’ve seen the price vary wildly.  There are other versions and sizes out there to choose from as well.

The Instant Pot is perfect for those of us who always forget to plan ahead for dinner or throw food in the slow cooker in time for dinner.  It cooks dishes up to 70% faster than usual and features 14 Smart Programs — Soup, Meat/Stew, Bean/Chili, Poultry, Sauté/Simmer, Rice, Multigrain, Porridge, Steam, Slow Cook, Keep Warm, Yogurt, Manual, and Pressure Cook.

5.  Kendra Scott Olivia Drop Earrings
$70
Jewelry has nothing to do with health and fitness, but I love these too much to not mention them.  Shown in Rock Crystal with 14k gold-plated brass, although you can choose from 4 other stones if you prefer a different color.  They’re much more lightweight than they appear, so they’re comfortable to wear all day.  And this is yet another Texas-based company, so yay!  🙂

6.  Stitch Fix Gift Card

$ any amount you choose

I’ve been using Stitch Fix for over a year and a half, and I’m very happy with the service.  You fill out questions about your style and what you’re looking for on their site, schedule your Fix, and one of their stylists chooses 5 items to send to you.  These can include everything from jackets to jewelry, tops to pants and skirts, accessories, and shoes.

You get a few days to try on your items, and then you simply mail back the items that you don’t want to keep.  Super easy.  You’re able to schedule your Fixes on your terms — there’s no contract or restrictions, and you set the budget for each type of item.  This service is great, if like me, you want to change up your style (and not only buy and wear yoga pants and sports bras, lol).  You can now find Stitch Fix gift cards at Giant Eagle, Kroger, and Safeway, as well as online of course.

Other Gift Cards to Consider:

Birch Box
$10/month x 3, 6, or 12 months
This monthly beauty subscription sends the recipient 5 samples of high-end products each month.  I’ve been receiving this subscription for the past year
or so and really like it.  Month to month, no contract.

Massage
Price varies
Who doesn’t love a relaxing massage?

If you’re in the Dallas area, I HIGHLY recommend the Erin Kathleen Boutique Spa Gallery!

Real Plans
$6-14/month

This is a meal planner with super powers, according to the website, and I would agree. It creates a custom plan to suit any family’s size, busy schedule, and ever-changing needs.  Choose from:  Traditional (Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free options), Paleo (Primal and Autoimmune Protocol options),
Vegetarian (Ovo-lacto), as well as some popular food bloggers’ recipes, like Nom Nom Paleo, OMG Paleo, and more.

I started using this service when my doctor put me on a low histamine diet a year ago and I had to cut out a ton of foods.  Real Plans made it easier to plan and shop for meals for the week, doing all the work and giving me a shopping list, menu (which you can easily change and adjust on the fly), and cooking timeline (so everything is thawed and cooked on time).  You can also add your own recipes or upload recipes you find online.

Shoes of Prey
$ whatever amount you wish
Create custom shoes, boots, and sandals at a reasonable price, receive in just 2 weeks, + fantastic customer service (I’ve personally used this and was seriously impressed).  This is great for those who have a hard time finding shoes that truly fit well, whether that’s the size or width or height.

7.  Wireless Ear Buds
Varies

I don’t know about you, but I haaaaate, loath, and despise headphone wires.  They’re constantly getting tangled, pulled, and caught on stuff.  They’re just annoying to deal with, period.  So wireless earbuds are on my holiday/birthday (in January) wish list!  Full disclosure, I haven’t used either one of these, but they are from companies I trust and come recommend from a variety of sources (see the 3 links below to check out all the best options).

Jaybird X3 Wireless In-Ear Headphones
$79.99

Bose SoundSport Wireless In-Ear Headphones
$99.98
I love my Bose over-the-ear headphones (don’t travel without them!), so I’d feel confident buying these.
